EarthBox Group Purchase – Ends April 26

April 13, 2009 at 12:55 pm 1 comment

South Maui Sustainability is ready to place our group Earthbox order. The order will be placed on April 27.

An EarthBox is a self-watering container that has a built-in water reservoir. The reservoir waters the plants—sometimes for several days. They can also contain a fertilizer band to feed the plants for the entire season. This makes the process of growing almost any flower or vegetable very easy and very productive. EarthBoxes can be placed where there is no garden, such as a lanai or patio.

EarthBoxes sell for about $50.00 plus shipping of about $25, but this group purchase should lower the price to about $35 with no shipping charge. Contact us by April 26 if you’d like to be part of this group purchase.

We are ordering the basic kits, which includes the Earthbox, growing medium (bag of potting mix + amendments), watering tube, wheels, and everything you need except seeds. The dimensions of the EarthBox are 29″ L x 13.5″ W x 11″ H. It doesn’t include the trellis section that is in some of the photos on their site. You can find more information about the Earthbox at their website. We have one Earthbox kit in Maui Meadows that you can come and look at.

Depending on how many orders we get, we may be able to order both green and terra cotta colors. However, if we have limited orders, we may have to order all green or all terra cotta.

We require payment at time of the order. We accept cash or checks. Please make checks out to Tri-Isle RC&D with “SMS: Earthbox” in the memo line. Call us at 874-5955 to coordinate payment or mail checks to:

When the boxes arrive, we will contact you for pickup or delivery in South Maui. Happy Growing!

You can also make your own EarthBox, but the materials will cost very close to our group purchase price. This site has directions. You can also download this pdf file.
