According to Fred Krup in his new book Earth: The Sequel, in addition to the superior efficiency of solar plants compared to wind and biofuels, “The economic benefits of Solar farming is impressive. A 2006 study…found that solar thermal plants create twice as many jobs as coal and gas plants and produce eight times the retained revenues in the states in which they are located. Each gigawatt of solar thermal-generated electricity, according to the Natural Renewable Energy Lab, will create 3,400 construction jobs, 250 permanent jobs, and $500 million in tax revenues.”

Abengoa Solar is building the largest concentrated solar electric energy plant in the world and will participate with the greater Hawaii/Maui community, Legislators, and candidates October 28th at 6:30 to 9pm at Kihei Community Center. They will present their revolutionary technology using Concentrated Solar Thermal Power to provide sustainable power and electricity and will be available to the public and Legislators to discuss and answer questions for the implementation of this technology for Hawaii. Sustainable energy working groups, Industry and Energy entrepreneurs are welcome to bring their ideas and displays. Please RSVP to Lance Holter.
