About SMS

Who We Are

We are South Maui citizens who are interested in getting our end of the island moving towards sustainable practices.

Our Mission

Creating sustainability awareness and action through education, growing our own food, producing our own energy and conserving and sharing our resources.

Our Vision

We envision a South Maui where natural resources are conserved and preserved, food and energy are produced locally, use of non-renewable resources is minimized, and our built environment nourishes healthy lifestyles and a thriving community. We reach for this vision with respect for past and future generations and the broader world of which we are a part.

Please join us and be part of something new and exciting that can really make a difference. Here are some ways to join us and get involved.

Core Group:
Kathy Becklin, Elizabeth Crow, Vivian Dames, Emily Goss, Stuart Karlan, Nio Kindla, Maury King, Teri Leonard, Chris Mentzel, “Blaze” Gene Weaver, Susan Wyche
